There were many responses to the 9-11 attacks. A big response was invading Iraq. The Patriot Act was also a big deal. This Act allowed the government to override a person's constitutional rights if they were suspected of being a terrorist. Homeland security was an added job to the cabinet and as an effect to 9-11, security increased in airports. 9-11 was a really sad and horrific event to happen to the United States.~Brianna Lindgren
There are many possible causes for the cause or causes of 9/11, but nobody knows for sure. This horrible incident that happened changed many things in the United States. One of the most noticeable effects from 9/11 was the increase in security. Flying by airplane, or any form of travel became more difficult, the background checks became more popular, we became more cautious about foreign affairs, and immigrants in the U.S.. We added a complete new job to the cabinet, and increased security in every way that we could think of. The United States used as much money that was needed to increase security in any way possible. This made our economy more challenging. On top of that, the work the firefighters, police officers, and citizens went through was long and hard. The health effects are a a large effect of the 9/11 attack. Although one of the most important effects that 9/11 had on America would probably be the fact that it was so unexpected and such a large scale attack, it made us feel unsafe, insecure, unprotected, and most of all it made us feel helpless. That is the most felt and recognized effect of 9/11.-Charlotte
There were many responses to the 9-11 attack although not many of them are known by the average American citizen. We all know that we went into war with Iraq and Afghanistan called the “war on terror” and that airliners now have much stricter policies. But what many Americans don’t know is that the government is now permitted to perform warrantless wiretapping. This essentially allows the government to listen to your phone calls and read your email, especially if you are contacting someone from outside the US. The patriot act was also put in place due to nine eleven which questions are constitutional rights as American citizens, saying that any government agency can enter your private property without warrant and go through your stuff just because they hear that you might have terrorist plots. These are just two out of several effects that were put in place after nine eleven. I think it is important that we educate people about the effects of nine eleven because a lot of them don’t realize the major effects. ~Caitlin Larson
Many effects rippled through America as a result of the 9-11 attack, the largest act of terrorism in America to date. One of the most immediate effects was a large ramp-up of airport security caused by an atmosphere of fear and distrust of foreigners, especially Arabs or Muslims. Another less immediate effect was the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act unconstitutionally took many rights from the people and gave many responsibilities to the government that are not constitutionally delegated to it. Another response was American involvement in the Middle East, which used 9-11 as an excuse to search for WMDs.
Some effects that happened after 9/11 were stricter rules for security. Not just national security but public safety in airports. The improving of national defense systems which resulted in heavier surveillance of suspicious groups. The National Defense Program helps protect against chemical and biological attacks. A huge effect after 9/11 was the patriot act that allowed the government to look in on any suspicious character anywhere in the United States. Also after 9/11 the U.S. decided to invade the middle east which they said they were looking for the group Al Qaeda which was the terrorist group they believed was responsible for 9/11.
Many effects happened form 9/11. The first and immediate effect was fear. The US did not know what was happening and who was causing it. Building were crumbling, people jumping out buildings, fire, screams, and uncertainly filled New York City when the two planes were overtaken and flown into the twin towers. Some other effects were job loss from the collapse of the towers and surrounding buildings. Fear also contributed greatly to job loss and business productivity greatly. Many people were scared to go to public placed where many people were in fear that they could be attacked as well. Malls, restaurants, business buildings ect. were all affected greatly. The debt of our county increase substantially as well. Invading the Middle East, cleaning up the wreckage, and job compensation all added up quickly increasing the United States debt and deficit.
